Sekventalinaya transmission BMW is based on a usual mechanical transmission. Among the major innovations use of two switches located on a steering wheel, except the usual lever of the selector. The driver can switch transfers, not removing a hand from a wheel. The gear change is strictly consecutive – no can be passed. The exact hydraulics guarantees, that on transfer switching will leave less than 150 milliseconds. It is not obligatory to driver to use a clutch lever or to release an accelerator pedal.
